I went to the Web Directions South UX conference alone. A friend tweeted me to let me know his friend was also alone at the conference - in a red jumper in the fourth row. Turns out he was sitting almost right next to me - just one person between us. Thanks Ben. And hi Gareth!

look. it's pretty much winter and I've been staying in, watching movies. yes! watch: man on the moon, iron man, lars and the real girl, smokey and the bandit. I went to a kid's birthday party on the weekend and didn't want to take a junky present. not another toy. I know what I should have bought him now; a book. I don't know which book - but one of them. I'm trying to attend more industry events. this week: web directions UX. next week: twitter meetup. yeah, and I've been trying to "match my future". anything I don't want in my future but it's here now, I'm ditching it. that'll shake them up, you say. well, so far I'm down to about 2 pieces of clothing and my laptop. but that's okay. have a heart.

I'm falling asleep all over the shop. I've been using the time to catch up on kottke posts in google reader. they're worthwhile. I went to work yesterday and my head birthed a headache; it grew as the day proceeded; rubbish. will try again tomorrow. in the meanwhile, :(
